International Diploma in Business (IDB)

Introduction

The International Diploma in Business (IDB) is the first stage in NCC Education's International Degree Pathway. This qualification is equivalent to NQF Level 4. IDB is open to college leavers wishing to take a recognised diploma qualification in Business or their first step onto a degree programme. The IDB is internationally recognised by many universities as entry to their business degrees.

The International Diploma will enable students to:

• Acquire practical business skills for the real world
• Experience a global perspective on business
• Acquire skills that will help you in your business career

Entry Requirements

In order to satisfy the entrance requirements for the International Diploma in Business, you must be at least 17 years of age at the time of registration and must demonstrate that you have reached a level of competence in Mathematics at least equivalent to a pass at GCSE/GCE, O Level, at not less than grade C, in a mathematical subject. Applicants should also hold passes in either:

• two subjects at GCE A Level + at least three further subjects at GCSE or GCE O Level (at not less than grade C or a pass if taken prior to 1975) or
• three subjects at GCE A Level + one further subject at GCSE or GCE O Level (at not less than grade C) or
• two subjects at GCE A Level + two further subjects at AS Level.

The IDB consists of the following 8 core modules:

• Business Communication
• eBusiness
• Economics
• Fundamentals of Financial Control
• Marketing
• Organisational and Business Structures
• Principles of Management
• Principles of Quantitative Methods

Awarding Body

NCC Education Limited

Duration

1 year of 1340 contact hours.

It is assessed by exam, assignment and coursework. On completion, NCC Education awards successful students a certificate.

Progress to Further Study

After completing the IDB, you can:

• Move to the next stage in the International Degree Pathway.
• Apply to the second year of many university degrees.
• Use the qualification to progress your career in business.
