Living Cost

Living expenses can be roughly broken down into 2 sections:

  • Accommodation
  • Living Expenses

Accommodation

Accommodation

The accommodation officer at eCollege London will advise you on the various accommodation options open to you. The best website for information on renting options is http://www.rightmove.co.uk. This lists thousands of properties to rent throughout the city. The closer to the city centre, the more expensive the property. The further away from the city centre, the more rent becomes affordable. Sharing rooms obviously reduces the rent. A typical modern apartment will cost £1200 (suitable for 3 to 4 people). In most cases, the landlord will require the first month's rent and a deposit in advance. The deposit is normally the same amount as the monthly rental figure. The minimum lease period is usually 6 months to 1 year. Please note that miscellaneous items might have to be purchased e.g. cooking equipment, bed linen etc.

Living Expenses

Living Expenses

London is an expensive city in which to live.  How much you will spend will depend on the type of accommodation you rent as well as your lifestyle.  In addition to rent, you should also budget for other expenses such as food, travel, household bills, clothes, socialising and the like.

Please see the Council for International Students (UKCISA) website (http://www.ukcisa.org.uk/) for more information on the cost of living in the UK.

  • Leaving my home and country was not easy but eCollege was the right choice as I immediately felt at home and looked after. Also, the English language course helped me to communicate confidently and I met some wonderful people from so many different countries. In short, a fantastic experience!
